KRMTA Bylaws and Constitution

 BY-LAWS OF THE KENOSHA RACINE MUSIC TEACHERS ASSOCIATION

Article I – Membership

            Section 1. Active membership is open to all persons professionally engaged in any field of musical activity. Such membership provides the privileges of participating in the activities of KRMTA, holding office, and voting.

 

            Section 2. Student membership is open to any music student through the age of 26.  Student membership does not include the right to hold office or vote.

 

Article II – Dues

            The annual dues for each fiscal year will be determined by a two-thirds vote of the active members present and voting at the November meeting of each year. The Executive Board shall initiate any proposal for dues alterations at its June meeting, and shall bring   any such proposal to the membership at KRMTA October meeting. Any proffered proposal shall be voted by the membership at its November meeting. Dues are paid directly to MTNA for each fiscal year.

 

Article III – Duties of Officers

            Section 1. The President shall preside at all meetings of the Association, shall call and preside at meetings of the Executive Board, shall appoint all committees as needed, and shall perform all other duties implied by the title.

           

            Section 2. The Vice-President shall assume all the duties of the President in the absence of that officer and shall perform such other duties as may be designated by the President.

 

            Section 3. The Secretary shall keep the minutes of all meetings of KRMTA and of the officers, shall see that the minutes are in legal form and properly preserved, and shall perform such other duties as may be assigned by the President.

 

            Section 4. The Treasurer shall be responsible for the payment of all bills authorized by KRMTA, shall keep an itemized account of all receipts and disbursements, and shall present an official report to the Association upon request.

 

Article IV – Election of Officers

            Officers shall be elected at the May meeting each year.  The candidates receiving the largest number of votes will be declared elected for a term of two (2) years.  A nominating committee shall be formed by the Association at the April meeting of the election year.

 

Article V – Executive Board

            The Executive Board shall consist of the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Immediate Past President.

 

 Article VI – Programs, Activities

            The Executive Board, guided by the wishes of the Association, will authorize the planning of programs and activities of an educational nature to be sponsored by the Association.  The Board will determine appropriate fees to be charged members and non-members.

 

Article VII – Amendments

            These By-Laws may be amended at any business meeting of KRMTA by a two-thirds vote of the active members present and voting, the proposed amendment having been submitted to the members at least thirty (30) days prior to the voting.

 

 

 THE CONSTITUTION OF THE KENOSHA RACINE MUSIC TEACHERS ASSOCIATION

 

 Article I – Name, Affiliation

          Section 1.  The name of this organization shall be the Kenosha Racine Music Teachers Association to be referred to as KRMTA.

 

          Section 2.  All active members of KRMTA shall hold membership in the Wisconsin Music Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association.

         

Article II – Purpose

          Section 1. The Purpose of this Association shall be to promote professional fraternity among music teachers, to stimulate professional growth among music teachers, to encourage high standards in music instruction, and to support the objectives of the Wisconsin Music Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association.

 

Article III – Membership

          Section 1.  Membership classifications in KRMTA shall be:  Active and Student.

 

          Section 2.  Membership privileges are prescribed in the By-Laws of the Association.

 

Article IV – Officers, Executive Board

          Section 1.  The officers of the Association shall be: 

          President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

 

          Section 2.  Responsibilities of the officers and procedures for the election of officers are specified in the By-Laws of KRMTA.

 

          Section 3.  The Executive Board shall consist of:

the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and immediate Past President.

          Section 1.  Meetings and programs of KRMTA shall be held at such time and place as are decided upon by the Executive Board of the Association, but they shall be guided by the wishes of the membership.

 

Article VI – Quorum

          Section 1.  One-half of the Active members constitute a quorum for the transaction of business of KRMTA.

 

Article VII – Fiscal Year

          Section 1.  The fiscal year and the membership year, shall begin July 1 and end June 30.

 

Article VIII – Amendments

          Section 1.  This Constitution may be amended at any business meeting of KRMTA by a two-thirds vote of the Active members present and voting, the proposed amendment having been submitted to the members at least thirty (30) days prior to the voting.
